HelpAge has launched new guidelines for emergency aid workers on supporting older people in emergency shelter programmes. We developed these in collaboration with the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC).
The guidelines include information on:
- the needs and capacities of older people
- participation and representation
- targeting
- age-friendly shelter design
- coordination and information sharing.
This is the first in a series of technical guidance notes to support the inclusion of older people in emergency programmes.
